Make sure you’ve watched part 1 - we’re following on here from a superficial breathing pattern.

And just to clarify, not all type A personalities are highly-strung with pelvic floor tension and jaw issues (before anyone comes at me lol). However, it is a breathing pattern I see a lot with chronic anxiety, OCD tendencies etc.

When you get into the nitty gritty and maybe, like me, find yourself analysing every breathing pattern you see - it becomes REALLY interesting. I think it’s useful in a lot situations, but particularly with neck pain, back pain, headaches and diastasis recti, as often a small shift in breathing can make a huge difference in symptoms.

Stay tuned for our final part 3 where we’ll actually get into ‘normal’ :)

21st Sep is just around the corner and that’s when it all kicks off 💪🏽 Comment CHALLENGE and I’ll DM you the link (it’s also in my bio)

Motherhood is a manual job. Lifting, carrying, bending, chasing. And as moms we often don’t get the time to train for it. But it doesn’t have to feel hard or painful. 5 days. 10min a day. Let me show you how to start changing things.

Signed: a physio, fitness professional and mom who’s been through it.

When I was at university, I remember watching lecturers do clinical assessments, and they would infer so much from seemingly nothing. And I was like HOW??

I’ve realised that it’s just something that comes with experience. I’ve gradually reached a stage where I can look at someone’s breath pattern, and (most of the time) know what I’m going to find before I even touch them, or take them through any loading.

Have you ever had someone who just cannot feel their abs? No matter what you do, it’s always ‘Yeah I feel it in my back. Or my hip flexors are on fire’. Have a look at their posture and breathing. It’s going to tell you a lot about how they’re strategising and what muscles they’re using instead of their abs.

*I tried really hard to fit this all in one video, but it was literally impossible. So sorry guys 😅 But there will be a part 2 and 3!

Anybody else remember that show Kids Say the Darnest Things? I think it’s also funny because eating has been a real journey with our kids. We’ll often say, ‘Wow you ate all your food! Look how big your belly is!’ And now they’re quite proud of showing off their big full bellies whenever they get the chance 😂

This is for all the moms whose backs are tired and sore. Who dread the simple task of getting up off of the floor. The moms who avoid running because of that little persistent leak. Or just want to collapse at the end of the day because they feel like their body just isn’t keeping up with motherhood and all its demands.

I know how it feels because I’ve been there.

These 5 days are for you. Short workouts. Planned by a professional. A bit of a game plan. To show you where to start, or get you going again if it’s been a while.

Tag your mom friends. Comment CHALLENGE if you’re in. I’ll see you on 21st September 💪🏽

Comment CHALLENGE and I’ll DM you the link ✨

I didn’t like what Chat GPT suggested so I’ve decided to write this caption myself, just like the good ol’ days. Let’s see how that works out.

As a mom of two I am intimately acquainted with the challenges of motherhood. How many of you, straight out of the hospital, were almost immediately carrying baby seats, spending hours on your feet rocking an infant, or playing on the floor? And it’s not like it gets easier from there 😂

Kids grow. They start running around (or insist on being carried like my 3-year-old). You’re the playmate who’s crawling through soft play, and tumbling down slides you’re wayyyyy too big for.

And then we wonder why our backs and necks hurt, we avoid jumps because of that persistent leak, and we feel like Quasimodo all hunched over when we look in the mirror.

Raising kids is physical work. The good news is that, just like any other sport, we can train for it. And I’m not talking about going to gym or insane weight training. I’m talking about good, solid functional movement and the right exercises that don’t leave you groaning when your kid wants to play race cars for the 100th time.

That’s what I’ve put together. 5 days of short workouts designed for moms like you and me. To show you where to start, or get you back in the swing of things if it’s been a while.

So tag a mom friend who needs this. Set your reminders for 21st September and comment CHALLENGE if you’re in 👇🏽

Imprint ≠ flat back. Technically it’s a veeeeerrrrry minimal posterior pelvic tilt. However, when someone hears ‘imprint the spine’, often the natural inclination is to really press the lower back into the mat. I think it takes other cues in combo and more explanation to do it right. I really loved the cue of ‘short in the front’ that @startpunkt_wechseljahre recently recommended on another post.

What are your cues? I’ve heard some great new ones already and I’d love to hear more!

P.S. If you’re using a rolled towel underneath the spine, make sure it’s not too big as this will push the spine into even more extension. But if it’s small enough for just a little contact, it’s amazing how suddenly someone can ‘feel’ their abs.

If someone does NOT have a massive lumbar curve, then a gentle ‘imprint the spine’ along with cueing the ribs gently down/in plus flattening the lower belly, may result in a great abdominal brace.

PSA: The ‘AI content’ is the anatomical pictures, not me 😅

This really hit home in a recent post I did about ‘belly buttton to spine’ and @depilatesjuf made a comment about how people struggle to brace their abs because they can’t breathe properly. And I was like, ‘Duh! How have I not thought of it like that before?? Of course people are going to struggle to brace using an exhale cue, if they can’t 360 degree breathe in the first place!’ And I know that because 99% of the time breath is where I start, but the way she said it made me think about it a little differently and engage with the concept in a new way, and I’m so grateful for that.

Honestly, especially as someone who is naturally very introverted as a person, putting myself out there on social media terrifies me. Because, depending on the platform, some people are just looking for an argument or to call people out. But I think I need to learn to care a little less.

So I’m not here to count likes or to compete for followers. I’m just here to share what I know and what I can offer, learn some new things along the way, and engage more. Maybe it’s just me coping, or maybe there really is space for everyone.

I said what I said. I also don’t always like ‘imprint the spine’ for a whole other reason. I promise I’m not just miserable 😂 I just like to think about what a cue is actually achieving anatomically.
