Pregnancy & Postpartum

Pregnancy comes with a lot of body changes which can also continue to affect women after giving birth. As prenatal and postpartum experts, we specialise in treating some of these conditions which involve muscles, joints and nerves. Your therapist will assess things like range of movement, muscle strength, sensation and muscle tone; and will also palpate the area to determine the cause of your pain and best course of action.

You do not need a specific diagnosis or a doctor’s referral for us to see you. Just head over to our booking calendar and arrange an appointment! We can see you for any of the following (to name just a few):

  • Symphysis pubis dysfunction
  • Pelvic girdle pain
  • Diastasis Recti/Abdominal Separation
  • Pregnancy or postpartum-related joint pain including back pain and sciatica
  • Postpartum pelvic floor check

*We offer both virtual and face-to-face appointments. We also accept AXA, Aviva and Vitality Health insurance for 30-min appointments.

Pelvic Services

Pelvic physiotherapy really does the same as conventional physiotherapy, but hones in on the pelvic floor. Pelvic floor dysfunction is incredibly common, but unfortunately not widely talked about because of the embarrassment associated with speaking about things like leaking pee/poo or pelvic pain.

At Belly Strong we want you to know that you’re not alone in your struggles, and that physio can often make a massive difference if you’re experiencing any problems with your pelvic floor. Please check out this article which covers what to expect during a pelvic assessment.

We can currently assess and treat the following:

  • Urinary incontinence (leaking pee)
  • Overactive bladder (peeing very frequently)
  • Urinary urgency (a very intense urge to urinate that you may not be able to control)
  • Stress incontinence (leaking pee when you cough, laugh or jump)
  • Pelvic floor weakness
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Constipation/Obstructed defaecation
  • Anal incontinence (leaking poo or gas)
  • Faecal urgency (a strong desire to poo which you battle to control)
  • Incomplete emptying (a feeling of never fully emptying your bladder or bowels)
  • Pelvic pain conditions e.g. vulvodynia, vaginismus, coccydynia, pain during sex, endometriosis, irritable bowel syndrome, bladder pain syndrome etc.

*We offer both virtual and face-to-face appointments. We also accept AXA, Aviva and Vitality Health insurance for 30-min appointments.
