About Me

“I created Belly Strong during my own pregnancy to help guide and answer the questions so many pregnant moms and new mothers (including me!) have when preparing for a baby. From there it evolved into what is is today – a comprehensive service encompassing physiotherapy, prenatal & postpartum fitness and educational resources all aimed at empowering women at various stages of life.

Gibwa Williams

My name is Gibwa (pronounced ‘Jee-bwa’) and I am a qualified musculoskeletal and pelvic physiotherapist/physical therapist with a keen interest in Women’s and Pelvic Health. I have a Masters as well as a Pilates diploma under my belt, and have worked in a number of different healthcare and fitness settings in South Africa, Japan, Canada and the UK. I’m also an affiliate member of the Pelvic Obstetric & Gynaecological Physiotherapy group (POGP). I grew up as a dancer and have always loved physical activity and movement! 

Our little girl was born in 2021, and I really spent my pregnancy creating the kind of content and workouts I was searching for myself as a soon-to-be mom. I continued this with the pregnancy of my son in 2023. There is so much information out there, and my hope was to design something streamlined and structured that other moms could also benefit from throughout their pregnancies, recovery and beyond. As I worked through my own journey as a new mom, Belly Strong grew to include postpartum resources, trying-to-conceive workouts, and a return to running program. All of this virtual content ultimately culminated in the birth of a pelvic physiotherapy service offering face-to-face assessments and treatment. 

Accessibility has always been a major factor in my mind when creating Belly Strong, so you’ll find tons of workouts for free on YouTube along with advice videos on a host of different topics related to pregnancy, postpartum and trying-to-conceive. Drawing on my professional knowledge and experience, I also created a Belly Strong guide for pregnancy, as well as a Postpartum Return To Running & Fitness Program – both of which offer a lot more guidance for new moms, and make accessing professional resources relatively easy for those who may not be able to see a pelvic physiotherapist in person. 

For those past the pregnancy and postpartum stage, I’ve also created general physio-led workouts on the Belly Strong Fit Club YouTube Channel.
